Carroll, who will meet his Tigers teammates for the first time tomorrow, was a rookie at the Bombers in 2009 when Matthew Knights was coach of the AFL club.
The 22-year-old midfielder-forward said the Bombers would bunker down in the face of adversity after offering themselves for investigation to the AFL and the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority over the legality of substances administered to players.
“Obviously they’d be disappointed with what’s happened,” Carroll said yesterday.
“They are obviously a strong football club.
“I think they’ll be right.”
Carroll, who was with Henty’s Kade Klemke on the rookie list in ’09, still keeps in contact with some Essendon players.
But he said he hadn’t spoken to any since the drugs drama was made public on Tuesday.
“I’ll keep my nose out of that,” Carroll said yesterday.
“They will do their investigations, I’m sure.
“They will get through it.”
Carroll said he would travel from Melbourne for games.
“It’s going to be a good experience,” Carroll said.
