A WODONGA man’s addiction to methamphetamine was the catalyst for an ugly break-up with his long-time partner, a court heard yesterday.
The woman cowered in a bedroom as he went on a rampage at their Lowanna Street home.
“The accused has threatened to kill the victim by telling her he would stab her,” police told the Wodonga Court yesterday.
Matthew Graham, 24, now of De Kerilleau Drive, pleaded guilty to making threats assault and criminal damage.
“You can see what “ice” does to you don’t you?,” magistrate John Murphy told Graham.
Solicitor Greg Duncan said Graham had no history of similar behaviour.
Police said Graham had gone to the house he had shared with his girlfriend’s on November 18.
After threatening her, he smashed a box of compact discs in the bedroom.
“That left her cowering in the corner,” police said.
He damaged the victim’s car by kicking it as he left.
Police later arrested and he told them in an interview a disagreement had got out of control and “I did it out of anger”.
Graham was convicted and fined $1000.
