Drink-driver was an easy collar

DRINK-driver Paul Buckley made it easy for Tumbarumba police — he parked in front of their station.

He kept the engine running to keep warm on a cold September 2 night, attracting the officers’ attention and when they opened his door, he slumped from the car.

Buckley, who had regained his licence only three days earlier, admitted he had been drinking all day — his blood-alcohol reading was .294 and it was his fourth offence.

In Albury Local Court yesterday, Buckley, 43, now of Shepparton, was jailed for nine months with a minimum of three months and banned from driving for three years.

He lodged a severity appeal and was released on $1000 bail to appear in the District Court.
