Lee, Thornely drop in on Crows

FORMER Australian fast bowler Brett Lee made a surprise appearance at Alexandra Park on Saturday.

Lee arrived at the ground with good friend Dominic Thornely, who played in East Albury’s 1995-96 premiership, much to the surprise of players and officials from the Lavington and East Albury camps.

But unfortunately for the Crows, the pair were visiting in a non-playing capacity.

“I was trying to sneak a game in this year for East Albury but couldn’t because of the two-day scheduling and Brett said he wouldn’t have minded a game either,” Thornely said yesterday.

“Maybe next year.

“Brett was keen to see where I started my cricket and we just dropped in for a while at Alexandra Park and I showed him around town before we went to a Weet-Bix Mycricket promotion at Cooma near Shepparton.”

Thornely recently announced his retirement after playing in the Big Bash for the Sydney Sixers and admits he’s enjoying life after cricket.

“It’s very different,” he said.

“I wouldn’t mind another game for East Albury though, just to finish it all off.”
