The Morven man, 33, was hit by a car on the Olympic Highway at the intersection of Hopetoun Street in Culcairn early Saturday morning.
A bouquet of roses has been left at the scene and the Morven pub is taking donations for a floral tribute at his funeral.
A card has also been left at the pub for residents to leave their condolences.
Mr Hansen, also known as “Cat” by locals, was a member of the Morven Tennis Club.
The club called off Saturday’s competition after hearing the news.
Police are interviewing a Coolamon woman, 51, who was taken to Culcairn Hospital after the incident for mandatory drug and urine tests.
Yesterday police were still waiting for the results of the tests.
Police believe Mr Hansen had been laying on the road at the time he was struck by the vehicle.
It was not known why he was on the road.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
