Nominations point to big Wodonga fields

WODONGA and District Turf Club has attracted 174 nominations for its meeting to coincide with the running of the Blue Diamond at Caulfield on Saturday.

The TAB meet will comprise of a seven-race card to be broadcast on Sky Racing.

The $15,000 Benchmark 72 Hcp (1300m) is the main race and has attracted some handy nominations.

Wodonga trainer Brian Cox is set to have a strong presence at the meeting after nominating eight runners, including Club Zero and Wingardium Leviosa, in the main race.

Cox is enjoying another strong season and is firmly entrenched inside the top 20 in the Victorian country trainers premiership.

The club is also holding a ladies luncheon to support the Belvoir Special School.

The luncheon includes a two-course meal, entertainment and auctions with tickets $110 each.

Alternatively there is also the Colts and Fillies Marquee which consists of drinks including Bacardi Breezers, live band, trackside location and entry for only $60.

Saturday’s meeting will be the last for club manager Brad Thomas.

Thomas has accepted the manager position at Benalla Racing Club.
