Former biker president held

THE former president of the Echuca-Moama Bandidos chapter was arrested yesterday as an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs that began in Deniliquin last year continues.

In May last year, Deniliquin police started an investigation into trafficking and the alleged involvement of members of the Bandidos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

The possession of illegal firearms was a key component of the investigation.

NSW Police’s Strike Force Anderton and Strike Force Raptor detectives with Victoria Police’s Echo Taskforce detectives searched four properties in the Moama area yesterday and a further five in Echuca.

Police said they seized a stolen handgun, a quantity of prohibited drugs and several knives.

They also seized a quantity of cash, a ski boat, a motorcycle and a bottle of liquid believed to be a drug precursor.

A Moama man, 40, and former president of the Echuca/Moama Chapter of the Bandidos was charged with indictable drug supply matters and refused bail.

Another Moama man, 31, was bailed to appear at Moama Local Court on March 20.
