Driver caught twice

A BARE-chested man who blew more than four times the legal limit in Wodonga on Friday afternoon was caught drink driving again three hours later.

The Albury man, 52, was sans shirt when police pulled him over at 3pm on the Lincoln Causeway as part of a roadblock operation where officers were checking for traffic and other criminal offences.

A secondary breath test Wodonga police station returned a reading of .232.

He was charged with driving under the influence and exceeding the .05 blood alcohol limit.

Wodonga highway patrol Sgt Cameron Roberts said the man returned to his Ford station wagon parked at Gateway Island but he told police he was waiting for a friend to pick him up.

Three hours later, Sgt Roberts said he was seen driving the same car on the causeway again.

Another breath test revealed his blood alcohol level to be .201.

He was charged with another count of driving under the influence and exceeding .05.

Sgt Roberts said it was “frustratingly stupid” behaviour.
