A MAN who went missing on Saturday in the Alpine National Park was found only a kilometre away from where he disappeared seven hours earlier.
Wangaratta police Sgt Brian McCormick said the Kyabram man, 31, was separated from the friends he was fishing with in the Cobbler Track area about 1pm.
His friends reported him missing to police and a search involving the police dog squad and a helicopter was sparked.
The man was found in thick bush.
“He was dehydrated, disorientated but otherwise ok,” Sgt McCormick said.
