A SOUTH Australian driver who slammed into a bridge in Wangaratta yesterday escaped with minor injuries.
Wangaratta police Constable Justin Tyers said the man, 45, was driving on Parfitt Road near the Great Alpine Road when he crashed into the end of a bridge at 12.30pm.
“It was very heavy impact with minimal braking,” Constable Tyers said.
The driver’s side at the front of the four-wheel-drive bore the brunt of the impact. The car was a write-off.
Both lanes of Parfitt Road were closed for two hours.
Investigations were continuing.
