Breaking news: Jennifer Lawrence is human.
She slipped in her seat at the Baftas, had a suspected wardrobe malfunction at the SAG awards and took another tumble in London two weeks ago. Now, she has outdone her slapstick, slightly klutzy self by stumbling on the stairs on her way to accept her first Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook.
The 22-year-old star, whom Piers Morgan calls the "best actress in the world right now", took the trip-up in her stride, managing to make a graceful and gracious recovery.
Hugh Jackman raced to help her up, later telling People: "I had to help her, poor thing! I didn't know if she could get up."
As she took to the stage, she received a standing ovation. With the world watching, it would not be a surprise if the star was reduced to tears of embarrassment. But, not Lawrence. "You guys are just standing up because I fell and you feel bad, thank you," she said.
Afterwards, she remained upbeat.
"The fall on the way up to the stage, was that on purpose? Absolutely," she said.
Asked what had happened by another reporter, she quipped: "What do you mean what happened? Look at my dress. I tried to walk up stairs in this dress... I think I just stepped on the fabric and they waxed the stairs."
Predictably, the Twittersphere exploded.
Arianna Huffington, of Huffington Post, offered sage advice:

And of course the humour began instantly:

But, generally the fall simply made the world love her more.
Trending on social media as we speak, it seems the young star, with her honest and humble approach, can do no wrong.
“My pants fell off," she told an enthralled Piers Morgan of her SAGs dress mishap just weeks ago. "Somebody trips me on the way, I remember that. I’m keepin’ it together, keepin’ it together… and then my pants fall off! Yep! Oh, god.”
With a refreshing openness that is making the media just as smitten as the public, Lawrence has been called "America's Kick-Ass Sweetheart", by Rolling Stone who gushed that she was the "coolest chick in Hollywood".
"Jennifer doesn't have a trace of arrogance," Hunger Games co-star Woody Harrelson told the magazine. "She's not trying to put on any airs or be anyone she's not. She's the real deal."
A little slip up here or there only goes to show that Harrelson is right.
