I drove from Melbourne to Wodonga recently and I noticed that a lot of roadside verges and median strips were burnt badly in a recent fire.
I suggest that the relevant ministers have fire-resistant trees and bushes planted along that stretch of road and others.
The median strips and the verges should be replanted with low flammability plants.
They may act a bit like a buffer and may help to stop or reduce the fire spreading across the road.
These plantations and the road could constitute a good firebreak in future fire seasons.
