HOWLONG has won junior golf club of the year.
The club, which is hosting the NSW senior state championship this week, will be presented with its award by Golf Australia on Sunday.
Howlong Country Golf Club general manager Chris Rebbechi said the club was thrilled with its achievement and thanked those involved for making the award possible.
“This award is testament to the commitment not only of our volunteer coaches, but also to the families in our small community who continue to support the program,” he said.
It beat 400 centres from across Australia for the inaugural award.
The club has 95 participants registered for its junior program and gets 60 to 80 to each session.
The senior state championships, meanwhile, kicked off yesterday.
The field of 170 for the 54-hole stroke play event includes two-time defending champion Peter King.
