The alpaca from Tasmania delighted young and old but the first question on everyone’s lips was “does he spit?”
“No, that’s for footballers,” laughed owner Ludo Mineur.
Every year Mr Minuer and his wife Sally from Sheffield, Tasmania, chase the sun north in their camper van.
Pedro hops on the Spirit of Tasmania too and makes the journey alongside the couple in their mobile home.
“He has his own spot in the motor home,” Mr Mineur said.
“He’s happy there.”
Few were able to resist patting the seven-year-old alpaca, or pop coins in the donation pouch tied around his neck.
One timid child was told “he’s already eaten a small girl and a corgi today, don’t worry”, by a jovial Mr Minuer.
The pilgrimage has been an annual event and Mr Minuer plans to stroll along Albury’s Dean Street today.
It wouldn't be the first time central Albury has seen animals in unconventional places.
