11:55AM: ABOUT $200,000 worth of illegally imported cigarettes were found in a car pulled over for speeding on the Hume Freeway at Benalla.
Benalla highway patrol Sgt Darren Wittingslow said officers detected the van speeding south on the freeway about 10am on Saturday and pulled it over.
He said the highway patrol officer found $200,000 worth of cigarettes illegally imported from Asia in cardboard boxes.
He said the van was travelling from Sydney to Melbourne.
A man, 22, holding a Korean national student visa, was charged with possessing and conveying illegally imported cigarettes.
