Tilley tale the untold 'elephant'

FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES: Premier a fan of Wodonga

OPINION: Likeable, goofy Ted wanted to be somewhere else

JACINTA Allan says the elephant is still in the room and it’s Bill Tilley.

The Labor opposition spokeswoman for regional and rural development said the Coalition government must explain the conflicting versions of events between Mr Tilley and Deputy Premier Peter Ryan over the alleged plot to get rid of Victoria’s top cop Simon Overland.

“We don’t know why Mr Baillieu resigned because neither he nor the new Premier Denis Napthine will say,” Ms Allan said.

“We do know there is an underlying issue with who knew what about the plot to get rid of the chief commissioner of police — the contradictions between the Deputy Premier and Police Minister Mr Ryan and his former parliamentary secretary, the member for Benambra Bill Tilley, will continue to dog the government.

“There is mounting evidence backing Mr Tilley’s version and yet he is the person who had to resign.

Ms Allan said the new Premier would do little to help regional Victorians.

“Mr Napthine was at the cabinet table that made dramatic cuts to TAFE funding and other decisions adversely affecting regional Victorians,” she said.
