FAST FACTS
- Located on the banks of the Murray River, the area was first known as Yarroweyah. Despite settlement it was not officially proclaimed as Cobram township until December 2, 1912.
- Cobram has a reputation for its excellent sporting facilities.
- Cobram has won many awards including Victoria's Tidiest Town in 1991 and 1993.
- The town's well known Melba Theatre which opened in 1948 was known to be ahead of its time with airconditioning, lobby and two cinemas. It was destroyed by fire in 2010.
- Cobram is home of the well-known bi-annual Peaches and Cream Festival claimed to be Australia's oldest-running festival.
- The Cobram area has a Mediterranean climate and averages 300 days of sunshine a year.
