ALBURY Thunder has won the Australian Drug Foundation’s Good Sports regional award for the second year in a row.
The Group 9 rugby league club picked up the top gong in NSW south western for its stance on managing alcohol and creating a safer and healthier environment.
Club president Rick O’Connell said yesterday the Thunder was proud of the achievement.
“We have tried to create the right environment and I guess this shows we have made inroads,” O’Connell said. “It’s something we have worked hard on with Good Sports project officer Peter Lee.”
More than 5000 community sporting clubs are involved with the program across Australia with North Clare Football Club, from South Australia, winning the Club of the Year award.
