THE division 2 title has eluded North Albury (2) after it went down to Henty at Henty on Saturday.
The host’s solid 65-53 win lifted it to the top of the ladder ahead of North Albury and gave it a chance to finish on top next week.
Henty’s rink of (skip) Kerry Boyle and (lead) Roger Meyer played out of its skin to jump out to a 21-2 lead against Noel Trainor.
It continued its good bowling to finish with a game-defining 30-10 victory.
Fellow Henty skip Peter Forck was also instrumental in the win.
He defeated Gerald O’Brien’s rink 22-14.
North Albury’s only rink win of the match was a solid one.
It came from Norm Honey who defeated Glen Harrison 29-13.
Forck said it always felt great to knock off North Albury (2).
“I know I’ve said it earlier this season but this is our best win of the season so far,” Forck said.
“Our greens were running fast at 15 seconds ... it’s a good home advantage.”
Elsewhere, Howlong had one of it’s best performances of the season by salvaging a 57-57 draw with Commercial.
And North Albury (3) was too good for Holbrook, 64-62.
