Sri Lankan is CAW’s best rep

MOUNT Beauty all-rounder Ashan Ranaweera has been rewarded for an outstanding season by being named Cricket Albury-Wodonga’s Representative Player of the Year.

The Sri Lankan star took 20 wickets at 12.75 in three competitions — SCG Country Cup, Konica-Minolta Cup and Melbourne Country Week — to go with 44 runs.

He was unbeaten in four knocks, batting down the order.

Ranaweera, whose accurate bowling played a huge part in CAW’s highly successful season, will be presented with the award at the Provincial grand final this weekend between St Patrick’s and Lavington at Les Cheesley Oval.

Lavington star Liam Scammell won the Bill Clarke Medal for the second time as CAW’s best player at Country Week.
