THIS year’s gold cup edition front page was shot under a cloak of secrecy early yesterday morning, with the winner of the Face of the Albury Gold Cup involved in an exclusive photo shoot.

While you’ll have to wait until Friday to see the finished product, and find out who won, we can give you some clues.

The Border Mail’s face of the cup is a 25-year-old university student.

The bubbly blonde yesterday glowed in a 1950s vintage dress she’d bought while backpacking in London and a hat whipped up overnight by Wodonga’s The Fabric Florist.

It was an early start for the retail worker, who had to be up at 5am to be ready for the 8am shoot.

Bound to be a hot contender in the gold cup’s official fashions on the field, she said she would be wearing an entirely new look come Friday.

However, she’ll keep with the same theme — mixing modern and vintage pieces. She was confident that racegoers would embrace a classier look for the 2013 event.

“I think there will be lots of peplum. I think it’s going to be a bit of a return to the more glamorous look,” she said.
