Jewellery thieves strike again

2.36PM: ABOUT $4000 in jewellery was stolen from a home in Wahgunyah, making it the fourth jewellery theft in the Rutherglen area within six months.

Police said a necklace, rings and earrings were taken from the bedroom of a home in Dennison Street, Wahgunyah, while its occupants were away between 8.30am and 4.30pm on Monday.

They said burglars got in through a window.

A laptop and a small amount of cash was also taken.

This is the fourth jewellery theft in four months and the second in Wahgunyah within a fortnight.

$4000 in jewellery was taken from a home in Barkly Street, Wahgunyah, on March 8, while two homes in Rutherglen had $80,000 in jewels stolen in October.
