Albury man on rape bid charge against 20yo

AN Albury man who is accused of breaking into a woman’s home with the intent to rape was refused bail in Albury Local Court yesterday.

Matthew Dudley Lewis, 30, is charged with aggravated break and entering a property and committing an act of indecency.

Police facts tendered to court alleged Lewis broke into the home in Margaret Court, Lavington between 2am and 2.14am yesterday with the intent to rape the woman, 20.

Police arrested Lewis at 2.35am.

They said the arrest came only a day after Lewis allegedly broke into the same home between 9am and 9.30am and indecently assaulted the same victim.

Lewis was refused bail and the case was adjourned to Monday.
