SEASONED Albury Gold Cup caterer Fiona Landy says the good thing about cooler cup weather is that it tends to bring out the best in punters.
With the heat off, they are inclined to eat more and drink less, leading to fewer drunken antics.
Rather than beer and champers, it’s coffee and “golden” take-away food that sells like hot cakes.
“When it’s hot, we sell more sandwiches and wraps, that sort of thing,” she said.
Mrs Landy has rounded up her usual team of 50 staff for her biggest event of the year and they will serve up 500 dim sims, 300 kilograms of chips, 300 sausages, 300 hot dogs and 250 steaks.
For her corporate customers, there’s 350 three-course and 280 two-course meals.
And that’s only part of it. Today there will be another half-dozen caterers on course to keep the punters satiated.
