UNIVERSITY student Rebecca Scott is the Face of the Albury Gold Cup.

The 25-year-old from Milawa beat a dozen other contestants for the honour of becoming this year’s cover girl.

Rebecca, who works part-time at Suzanne Grae at Wangaratta, is also likely to be a hot contender for this year’s main track-side event — fashions on the field.

She has won each of the last four competitions she has entered.

They included spring carnival meets at Corowa and Wangaratta.

Today she’ll grace the catwalk in a autumn-toned ensemble — a skirt from Albury’s Bamboostik, a top homemade by her mum and a hat crafted by her milliner of choice, Wodonga’s Fabric Florist.

Rebecca said she got hooked on fashions on the field three years ago when a friend encouraged her to enter.

She said she’s never encountered the cattiness often said to go hand-in-hand with the race-day competition.

“I think all the ladies are quite nice but fashion is subjective, it depends on the day what the judges like,” she said.

With two tickets to the cup, she’ll take her friend Elissa Van Dorst, who will sing at the Carlton Mid Meeting Place.
