Seymour has been given the nod to lead the Ovens and Murray club while regular coach Adrian Pavese fulfils pre-existing commitments with the ACT women’s team in the AFL Women’s National Championships in Cairns.
“We have no issue with it,” club president Ray McLarty said yesterday.
“It was a pre-existing obligation and I think it’s decent of the club to allow him to do it.
“He doesn’t want to miss our game, but he’s been coaching the girls for a few years now and I think we can get by for a week.
“‘Scooter’ (Seymour) will be the main coach and he’ll have lots of help from people like Paul Bartlett, Beau Longmire, Phil Godde and Brett Skinner.”
Pavese joined Corowa-Rutherglen from Queanbeyan this season.
He was the senior assistant-coach at the NEAFL club under Kade Klemke as it scored a shock grand final win against the Sydney Swans reserves at Manuka Oval.
He previously coached Queanbeyan’s division 1 team to three flags as well as leading the club’s women’s team.
McLarty said the Roos were eager for a strong performance against Albury.
“It was a little disappointing at the weekend,” he said.
“Having a couple of players withdraw didn’t help but the boys will be right.
“We’ll keep at it.”
Corowa-Rutherglen has two wins and a draw from 10 rounds.
