After staying in touch for the opening 40 minutes, the reigning premier’s class came to the fore as the visitors reeled off their eighth successive win.
Thunder coach Josh Cale said it was a pleasing performance without unavailable pair Lou Goodwin and Jon Huggett.
“I was just happy to get a win with a few players away,” Cale said.
“Brothers are a dangerous side.
“I can’t understand why they are so far down the ladder.
“They have a handy full-back, Jermaine Packer isn’t a bad player and Blake and Brock Dunn and Matt Ward are good players as well.
“I reckon they are far from the worst side going around.”
Albury led 22-10 at half-time but broke the match open on the back of some barnstorming runs from Mitch Davis and Andrew Cowhan and the class of Ben Jeffery and Willie Heta.
Jeffery scored a try and landed seven goals from eight attempts in a vintage display.
“We didn’t play our best in the first-half, but half-time was good for us as we spoke about what was going wrong and how to fix it,” Cale said.
“The next 10 minutes really set the platform for us.
“We have a really important run home coming up and it was good to get through again with no injuries.”
Thunder, who started with only one fresh reserve in Cale, lead Southcity by percentage on top of the ladder and take on Cootamundra, Tumut, Gundagai and the Bulls in their remaining matches.
Daniel Fitzhenry’s charges survived an epic battle with Cootamundra yesterday, winning 26-22 after full-back Scott Bowden scored with only two minutes left on the clock.
