A WODONGA student with just as many dance costumes as normal clothes has taken out the Albury-Wodonga Eisteddfod Junior Scholarship.
Lexie Michael, 13, said her passion for dance extended to the beautiful outfits and getting “glammed up”.
The Victory Lutheran College student cleaned up at the eisteddfod, winning first for a jazz solo, tap improvisation and song and dance troupe.
She also took out second place five times and placed third three times.
But she wasn’t expecting the scholarship that came with $250 to help with dance costs.
“I was so surprised, there was a lot of competition,” she said.
The scholarship is awarded to the competitor with the highest combination of points over four different sections of dance.
“I love being on stage and I have been dancing for 11 years,” she said.
Lexie takes classes under the guidance of Vicki Sherriff twice a week at TDA Performing Arts Benalla.
“My parents are great because they take me to all my lessons and competitions,” she said.
Lexie also takes cheerleading classes at the Hume Dance School.
