A P-PLATER has slammed into a Wodonga power pole this afternoon, knocking it out of the ground and disrupting power supplies to parts of the city.
Wodonga witness Terri Westblade said two cars appeared to be drag-racing through the roundabout on the corner of Lawrence Street and Melrose Drive when they lost control.
Ms Westblade said one sped off towards the Birallee Tavern while the other, a P-plater, spun 180 degrees and slammed into a power pole on the driver's side of the car.
The driver, a young woman, climbed into the passenger seat and appeared to be unhurt.
Police, ambulance and firefighters attended the scene and the woman was taken to the Wodonga police station for questioning.
SP Ausnet are working to restore power.
