NEVER mind the cupcakes and party games — Jacinta Alpaslan had an extra special way to celebrate her seventh birthday on Saturday.
Jacinta participated in the Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod and took home a swag of awards — six gold medals, the overall sub-junior aggregate trophy, and a special award for the junior with the most potential.
She competed in the six years and under section and performed a mime, four poems and a reading.
Though she lives in Melbourne, she’s a pupil of Albury speech and drama teacher Jan Skinner.
She also plays piano.
Her mother, Jacqueline Carter-Alpaslan grew up in Albury, and Jacinta’s grandfather was long-serving former Albury town clerk, Jack Carter.
