I AM most perplexed with the recent hype being promoted around the “Voice 4 Indi” candidate, implying that Indi does not presently have a very vocal and effective voice.

The past three years of the present government have been a very sick joke, aided and abetted by the whims of two supposed independents.
It is clear that any independents will be very much relegated to a background position in the next Parliament.
In his recently published book, the present Treasurer Chris Bowen has argued the ALP in future should “govern alone or not at all” and one could have little doubt of the low rating that independent MPs will have with Tony Abbott, given his experiences with them over the past three years.
Any independent “Voice 4 Indi” would be falling on deaf ears in Canberra, be it an ALP or Coalition government.
Hence, it would be absolute folly to contemplate replacing a present shadow minister, who stands ready to be a senior member of the inner cabinet at the heart of our federal government, with an independent who will have limited influence in policy decisions for our electorate.
It has been many years since this area has had such a unique opportunity to influence national, regional and local decision-making; possibly not since the honourable John McEwan served with historic distinction.
Why would any reasonable-thinking voter jeopardise such a unique opportunity?
