THE Save Albury Wodonga Health lobby group believes the opportunity to secure a $5 million cardiac laboratory at Albury hospital is “above politics” and it won’t be lobbying voters to support the Coalition.
Spokesperson Liz Hare said the funding pledge by member for Indi Sophie Mirabella and member for Farrer Sussan Ley was reward for the 12,000 people who signed a petition calling for improved health services.
“This is an important campaign and above politics,” she said.
“We will leave it to the community to decide how they vote.
“But we think this is an important win for our campaign.”
At present cardiac patients are being flown to Melbourne at a cost of $7000 per person.
“To have the facilities and equipment here that is world class will make an enormous difference to the stress on patients and their families,” Ms Ley said.
“This is a game changer for health services.”
