COROWA-Rutherglen youngster Bill Hansen last night took out the Albury-Wodonga Junior Football League’s under-16 best and fairest award at Albury Entertainment Centre.
Hansen capped off a strong season for the Roos by polling in 10 of the 14 matches he played to finish six votes clear of Albury rover Fletcher Carroll and Yarrawonga’s Marcus Hargreaves.
Scots’ Abe Spargo was a further vote back on 16.
Wodonga’s Harry Jones picked up 32 votes in the under-14 division one competition to edge out Scots’ Charlie Spargo by four.
Jones, who was judged best afield on nine occasions, was never headed in the count and will be looking to continue his outstanding season when the Bulldogs take on Wodonga Raiders in Sunday’s grand final at Bunton Park.
North Albury key position player Keiran Hill edged out Albury pocket-rocket Rhys King by a vote in under-14 division two and Corowa-Rutherglen’s Charlie Langford was victorious in the under-12s.
In the goalkicking awards, Lavington’s Ryan Garthwaite took out under-16s with 54 majors while Yarrawonga’s Brock McCabe was successful in under-14 division one on 33, North Albury’s Zac Barrenechea kicked 50 in under-14 division two and St Patrick’s Zachery Stephens won the under-12s on 34.
