BARNAWARTHA centreman Cameron McNeill last night won his second Barton medal in six seasons when he stormed to victory in the Tallangatta and District league’s vote count.
McNeill followed up his success in 2008 by polling 25 votes to edge out high-flying Yackandandah forward Trent Castles and Chiltern utility Jaise Coleman by two.
The Tiger midfielder was judged best on ground on eight occasions in rounds two, three, five, nine, 10, 13, 16 and 18.
Coincidentally, McNeill polled the same number of votes to win his previous medal.
McNeill’s success will provide another boost for Barnawartha on the eve of its do-or-die elimination final against Kiewa-Sandy Creek on Saturday.
Dederang-Mount Beauty’s Max Brooks won the reserve grade medal by five votes from Mitta United’s Brendan McEvoy.
Rutherglen’s Martin Brennan took out the under-16 medal from Yackandandah’s John Humphrey.
Tallangatta’s Noah Avery won from Rutherglen youngster Haresh Sitharather in the under-14s.
