BILLABONG High School girls under-15 team claimed the Giants Cup at Blacktown International Sportspark yesterday.
After winning previous rounds in Albury and Wagga to make it to the final four in the state, Billabong beat Belmont Christian College 7.6 (48) to 1.2 (14) in the semi-final.
Billabong then outplayed Eden Marine High School 7.8 (50) to 1.3 (9) in the grand final.
Billabong coach George Mackinlay said it was a great effort.
“They were bigger than us, but we were more skilful,” he said.
“I think that comes from spending time kicking with their brothers and hanging around football.”
Best players for Billabong High were Olivia Hore, Elise Parker, Sarah Bahr-Withers, Layne Parker and Teneale Keene.
“We had good players all over the park,” he said.
“The best thing is more of them are 13 or 14 so they will play next year.”
