THE Murray Bushrangers surrendered a golden opportunity to stay in the TAC Cup premiership race when they went down to the Western Jets by nine points at Visy Park on Sunday.
After leading at every change, the Bushrangers ran out of legs and lost the elimination final 10.12 (72) to 9.9 (63).
Lavington speedster Michael Gibbons set Darren Ogier’s team alight early and was instrumental in it. The Bushies led by 17 points at quarter-time with Gibbons’ pace hurting the Jets at the stoppages. Joe Cousins, Jarman Impy and Kristian Cary were also effective.
But the Western Jets rallied their troops at the final change and slammed on four goals to none to turn a nine-point deficit into a nine-point victory.
Jake Greiser and David Iaccarino were best for the Jets.
