A MAN murdered in Wagga in 2011 was shot four times with a .22 rifle and had his left ear severed, a Supreme Court jury in Albury was told yesterday.
Crown prosecutor Wayne Creasey outlined in his opening the circumstances involved in the death of Semin “Sam” Rizvic at his unit in Edward Street in the early hours of July 21.
Mr Creasey said it was a joint criminal enterprise between Peter John Kearnes, 52, and another man, 29.
Kearnes has been charged with murder and pleaded not guilty with his trial expected to last at least three weeks.
Mr Creasey said Kearns was in a relationship with Tamsin Cameron, who will be a crucial witness.
The evidence relating to the shooting comes from a man who was a prisoner at Junee jail where Kearnes was remanded after being charged with murder.
Defender barrister Peter Williams said it would become apparent to the jury there are a lot of inconsistencies in what Ms Cameron says.
“Peter Kearnes had nothing to do with the death of Mr Rizvic,” Mr Williams said.
The trial before a jury of seven men and five women continues today.
