Newcastle trainer Darren Smith will take a couple of three-year-olds to Randwick on Saturday with the philosophy of "give it a crack and find out where we are at".

The unbeaten Open Book and problem child Dream Forward jump into black-type company and Smith has them where they need to be for tough assignments.
Dream Forward takes on the a quality set of fillies in the Furious Stakes after being scratched a couple of times in recent weeks following a first-up win at Canterbury.
"I just haven't been happy with her and you can't go into these races if they aren't 100 per cent," Smith said. "She had a couple of minor things go wrong after her win. She cut her nose in the float after the win but she is over those problems. She has always showed us above-average ability and we are quickly going to find out if she is up to them on Saturday. There are plenty of nice fillies in that race."
Since Dream Forward's win, Open Book has won twice at his only two starts. The Shamardal gelding scored at Newcastle and Gosford, leading Smith to try him in the Ming Dynasty Quality.
"He hasn't put a foot wrong yet and, like Dream Forward, we need to find out whether he can line up against spring horses," he said. "You can always go back if he isn't up to it. But he is very fit and I have always thought he could get to this level. He gets in on the limit and has a good gate.''
