A LAVINGTON man was shocked early yesterday to find his car windows smashed and two laptops stolen from the vehicle.
Troy Harris, a New Zealander, said his birth certificate and passport showing he had permanent residency in Australia, were in one of the laptop bags.
“I don’t care about the computers. I just need those documents back,” he said.
Mr Harris was staying at his fiance’s house in Michelle Avenue, Lavington.
“The dog was barking a bit after midnight,” he said. “I guess we should have got up and had a look.
“They took both our laptops and smashed two windows.
“It was a big shock to see glass everywhere.
“We collected two buckets of glass.”
The couple reported the incident to police and Mr Harris soon had the windows replaced.
He and his fiance, Ellie Lewis, had plans for their wedding on her computer. The couple were engaged last weekend.
“I had a lot of my TAFE work on the computer and I had been using it to plan our wedding,” she said.
“We have booked the wedding for this day next year.”
Mr Harris only bought his Toshiba laptop last month.
“Hopefully someone knows something or saw something and can help us,” he said.”
