NORTH Albury midfielder Joel Price has signed as coach of Hume league club Howlong.
After spending the past four seasons at Bunton Park, Price will step into coaching ranks for the first time when he takes over from Karl Jacka.
The left-footer previously had stints with Yarrawonga and Wodonga Raiders with the Spiders hopeful his network of contacts can help lift the club back into the finals.
Howlong recruiting manager Bill Longley said Price would bring fresh ideas and contacts to the Spiders.
“We’re rapt to have things sorted so early,” Longley said.
“You need to get on to things early these days and Pricey will be really good for the club; he’s got a lot of experience behind him in the Ovens and Murray and it will be great having someone come in from outside to open different doors.”
Price, 31, was a solid performer for North Albury under coaches Travis Hodgson and Bob Craig but managed just eight senior matches at Bunton Park this season with Jason Akermanis at the helm.
Assistant-coach Steve Fouracre and ruckman Peter Hancock have re-committed at Howlong.
Hancock crossed from Lavington this year and recently won the Spiders’ best and fairest award.
Meanwhile, Price’s former North Albury teammate Ash Sibraa will be announced as coach of Tallangatta and District league club Yackandandah.
