A MAN tried to force a woman taxi driver at Corryong into the back seat as she dropped him off after a night out.
Leading Sen-Constable Brent Reed said the woman, 63, was driving on Strezleki Way at 1.30am on Sunday.
She was dropping off the man when the assault occurred.
Sen-Constable Reed said the man grabbed her by her clothes and tried to force her into the back seat, making threats.
He said the driver pulled over and the man got out before she drove away.
She called police and finished her shift, uninjured but physically shaken.
Police are unsure of the motivation for the attack, with no money stolen.
Sen-Constable Reed said a suspect, aged 31, has been identified, but was yet to be interviewed.
The woman has worked as a taxi driver at Corryong for 30 years.
