IF your children are anything like Charlie and Tom Roberts, nothing will stop them celebrating the opening of the Border’s outdoor heated pools with a splash.
“It’s freezing, but it’s fun,” a shivering Tom said when he came out of the water at Wodonga’s WAVES pool, which officially opens for the season today.
Both WAVES and the Albury Swim Centre open today, with keen swimmers able to get in the water from 6am.
WAVES operated only seven weeks last autumn due to an 84-day delay in its opening.
Charlie, 8, and Tom, 6, simply wanted to see who could make the bigger splash.
“They’ve only been nagging about coming here all morning,” mum and YMCA official Nicole Roberts said.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s cold, if you have a nice sunny day like today the kids are itching to go in.”
Albury Swim Centre is open at 6am Monday to Friday, 7am Saturday and 9am Sunday, with varying closing times.
WAVES is open 6am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 7pm Saturday and Sunday.
