FIVE generations of family helped May Vogel celebrate her 104th birthday yesterday.
Her family believed she was hanging around to see her beloved Richmond win another premiership.
“She will be waiting a long time I think,” son Colin Vogel said.
Mrs Vogel, who lives at Albury’s Lutheran Aged Care, was delighted to have her family around to celebrate.
Daughter Hilda Van Zanten said her mother attributed her longevity to living a healthy life and never drinking alcohol or smoking.
Mrs Vogel was born at Yackandandah and grew up on a dairy farm at Tangambalanga.
She has 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
“Family is everything to her,” granddaughter Heather Crisp said.
“The memories I cherish most are spending Christmas at her house in Tangambalanga.”
