A MOTORCYCLIST allegedly clocked doing 182km/h in an 80km/h zone on Sunday morning will face court on speeding charges.
Sgt Mal Burdett said police using a mobile speed radar detected the Lavington man, 56, on the Murray Valley Highway at Killara at 10am.
And the alleged speed, 101km/h above the speed limit at Killara, astounded police.
“To come off at speeds like that would be almost certain death to yourself and others,” Sgt Burdett said.
The rider would be charged with speed dangerous and exceeding the speed limit.
His motorcycle was impounded for 30 days and the court would determine if there would be any licence suspension or disqualification.
Sgt Burdett said it was rare to see anyone travel so fast through Killara, though a motorcyclist was allegedly detected travelling up to 170km/h in May.
