THE wet weather has given farmers renewed confidence for the spring season, says farmer and Henty Machinery Field Days chairman Ross Edwards.
Mr Edwards said even though people had to trudge through mud yesterday, the downpour was just what farmers were looking for.
“The rain is terrific,” he said.
“We weren’t as desperate for it as some other places but it does generate a lot of confidence among the farmers, which is great to see.”
Mr Edwards said in the past if there was mud at Henty, local farmers were in for a quality harvest.
He owns a farm in Yerong Creek with his wife, son and daughter-in-law and said they were all pleased by the weather.
“The canola and wheat couldn’t look better at the moment and I’m sure it’s the same for other farmers,” he said.
Mr Edwards expected to see blue sky today and tomorrow and hoped people would be encouraged to attend the event.
“I’d still be telling people to bring their gumboots though,” he said.
“I don’t think we’ll be rid of the mud just yet.”
