“It endorses that staff have done a good job. It’s a feeling of satisfaction after almost two hard weeks,” he said.
Ms McGowan had a lead of 395 votes when counting finished before 11am yesterday.
“By law, we have to do the last small count on the 13th day — that’s what it’s called — on Friday,” Mr Kennedy said.
The counting of the final 150-200 postal votes won’t take place until after the declaration of the result at the W.J. Findlay Oval at 2pm tomorrow.
Mr Kennedy said the declaration was usually done at the commission’s office but had been moved because so many people were interested in this poll.
He said Mrs Mirabella had conceded after realising she would still be behind after the last postal votes where counted.
