IT can be tough going to come up with a new idea in farming innovation.
Australian manufacturer, NDF, won the Tractor and Machinery Association’s best Australian manufactured machine with its contour special disc planter.
NDF sales and service manager Andrew Garwood said the company had developed a machine capable of handling uneven ground.
“It allows the frame to flex and twist and our units can still retain contact with the ground for even sowing depth,” he said.
“It can handle contour banks, uneven ground and melon hole country.
“We built it primarily because our machines were under stress in big contour scenarios and this is going to flow on to our machines for the rest of the models.”
Mr Garwood said the award meant a lot to the designer.
“This is his award, not my award, actually it’s the company’s award I guess,” he said.
The contour special disc planter is operating in parts of northern NSW and attracted plenty of interest this week.
