AN Albury man has been charged after holding up a Wodonga pizza place with a knife last night.
The 35-year-old man made off with about $1200 cash after the armed robbery at Pizza Heaven in Mayfair Drive, about 10.30pm.
Detective Sen-Const Justin Foots said a man entered the store wearing a beanie that he had turned into a balaclava, and bearing a kitchen knife.
The man demanded that an employee - who was the only staff member present - open the till.
The manager complied and the thief took the notes and ran away from the scene.
Sen-Const Foots said police located the man in Melrose Drive a short time later.
He had discarded the knife, gloves and other identifiable clothing in the garden beds of front yards he passed, to try to avoid detection.
All the cash was recovered.
The man was charged with armed robbery and theft, and remanded in custody to appear at Wodonga Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
