SENTENCING of Albury man Joshua Kevin King on charges relating to knuckledusters and a cut-throat blade were deferred in Albury Local Court yesterday after it was discovered the offences have breached a District Court bond.
Magistrate Tony Murray said the issue with the bond must be resolved before King had a penalty imposed on two charges.
King, 22, of Sylvania Avenue, North Albury, appeared through a video link from Junee jail where he remains on remand.
He was charged with drug supply offences last month and bail refused.
Judge Martin Blackmore imposed a three-year bond and $3000 fine on King in September 2011 over the theft of paintball guns and the shooting of paintballs at the Albury police station in December 2010.
At the time, Judge Blackmore told King that his time out of jail would be short if he continued the way he was going.
King spent nine months in jail before he was sentenced after paintball equipment was used to fire at a Lavington service station, the police station and A. T. Jones in Kiewa Street.
Judge Blackmore said the value of equipment stolen from the paintball centre 20 kilometres from Albury was $6890 and it appeared the actions of King and others was intended to cause mayhem.
Mr Murray adjourned charges of possessing a prohibited weapon and custody of a knife in a public place until next week so the breach can be referred to Judge Blackmore for a decision on what should happen.
Police were patrolling Mate Street about 7pm on June 12 when they saw King driving a vehicle at varying speeds.
He made a turn without indicating and officers followed him to where he stopped.
King produced a P-driver’s licence, he appeared nervous and his hands were shaking.
Police told him they were going to search him for drugs and checked the vehicle as well.
They found a set of knuckle dusters and a cut-throat blade in a small compartment next to the glovebox.
King said he made the knuckledusters from a belt buckle and knew it was an offence to have the item.
The cut-throat blade was bought at a market in Sydney.
