A NSW budget announcement earlier this year that pledged $3.3 million for work on state government buildings in Albury was last night revealed as a mistake.
Member for Albury, Greg Aplin, said the budget entry had mistakenly applied to Albury a sum of money earmarked for government office upgrades across the state.
“A line in the 2013-14 budget indicated the sum of $3.3 million would be provided for work on state government office buildings in Albury,” Mr Aplin said.
“The budget did not make clear which buildings were to benefit, so I sought answers from the minister’s office immediately and on numerous occasions since then.”
He outlined his preference for money to be spent on improved delivery of services.
Mr Aplin said Albury would still benefit from government funds for electrical upgrades of two state buildings in Dean and Macauley streets.
He said the administrative error did not affect the ongoing work on the multi-agency depot facility at Mungabareena, which would be fully funded to $3.25 million by the NSW government.
